This past winter I visited a small country called Georgia. It is the country where I was born and where I lived until I was 11 years old. It is situated in the Caucasus, which is a region of the world that divides Europe and Asia. It is surrounded by Russia, Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and the Black Sea. Georgia is a small country but it has many interesting places. It has a population of about 5 million people. Georgia had been part of the Soviet Union and became an independent, democratic republic in 1991. I was amazed by the places that I visited and I wanted to take pictures to show others what parts of Georgia look like. Most of the pictures I took were in the capital city of Georgia, called Tbilisi. In Tbilisi there is a place called “Old Tbilisi”. It is called “Old Tbilisi” because that neighborhood is what is left of the oldest part of the city. The buildings, roads, and houses are designed differently than the homes and communities in the United States. When you go to that neighborhood you can imagine how Tbilisi looked like many years ago.
